Client Testimonials
In clients' own words
"My husband and I had been putting off this conversation for years. We knew we needed to understand our pension situation before he retired, but we did not know where to start. The Spousal Briefing gave us a shared picture for the first time. The written summary they sent us afterwards is still on our fridge."

"I had been receiving the wrong pension for eleven years. I assumed there was nothing I could do about it — that it was just how it was. Sirih Adil reviewed my service records and found that a secondment period had been incorrectly excluded from my pensionable service. JPA accepted the review request. The difference is meaningful."

"I arranged the Legacy File service for my mother, who is 78 and in reasonable health but wanted to get things in order. She found the sessions manageable because they did not try to rush her through anything. The file is now with my sister and with the firm. My mother says she feels settled."

"The aspect I valued most was that they told me at the outset whether they thought my case had merit before agreeing to take it on. That kind of honesty is not common. As it turned out, the records did support a review, and JPA has since revised my pension accordingly."

"My late father had been a schoolteacher for thirty-two years. After he passed, the family realised we had no idea where his pension documents were or what survivor benefits applied to my mother. Sirih Adil helped us understand what she was entitled to and assisted with the paperwork. I wish we had sought this help years earlier."

"The briefing was conducted with real patience. I asked several questions I thought were probably obvious, and not once did anyone in the room make me feel that way. My wife and I both left with a much clearer picture of how our financial situation will look after I stop working."

Three situations we have helped to resolve
The Situation
Eleven years of underpayment
A retired Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran engineer contacted us believing his pension had never reflected a three-year secondment to a state water authority. He had raised it informally at the time but received no written confirmation of how it had been treated.
What We Did
Record review and formal submission
We gathered his complete service record, identified that the secondment period had been excluded from pensionable service without proper authorisation, and prepared a formal recalculation request to JPA with the supporting documentation.
The Outcome
Recalculation accepted
JPA accepted the review request and revised the pension calculation. The client began receiving the corrected amount within four months of our initial submission. Total engagement: approximately five months.
"I had accepted that this was simply how it would be. I wish I had not waited so long to find out whether anything could be done." — Client, Selangor
The Situation
A widow with no pension access
A 74-year-old widow contacted us eight months after her husband's death. He had been a retired civil servant. She had been receiving his full pension while he was alive but received a letter from JPA reducing her payment substantially. She did not understand why.
What We Did
Survivor benefit review
We reviewed the pension terms applicable to her late husband's grade and service date. We found that the survivor payment she was entitled to had been correctly calculated but that she had also been entitled to a separate allowance that had not been applied. We wrote to JPA accordingly.
The Outcome
Additional allowance reinstated
The additional allowance was applied from the date of the original pension revision. She also received a brief explanation from JPA for the first time. Her daughter, who accompanied her to the session, said it was the first time her mother had understood her own financial situation since her husband's death.
The Situation
An EPF nomination made decades ago
A 68-year-old former bank officer asked us to review his Legacy File as a whole. During the review, we found that his EPF nomination named his mother as sole beneficiary — a nomination made in 1983 that had never been updated. His mother had been deceased for sixteen years.
What We Did
Nomination update and legacy file
We assisted him in updating his EPF nomination to reflect his current wishes. We also coordinated with his solicitor to review his will, which had not been updated since 2004. The full Legacy File was completed over four sessions across two months.
The Outcome
Affairs in order for the first time
His EPF nomination now reflects his actual intentions. His updated will, advance health-care preferences, and pension documents are held in the Legacy File with us and with his eldest son. He described the process as completing something that had been unfinished for a long time.
